After being announced last October, the biggest eFootball event for national teams on eFootball PES 2021 (our review here) is about to go live. All 55 Uefa member federations will take part in the eEuro 2021 qualifiers, scheduled from today. The winner of the competition will be announced on 10 July, which is one day before the final of the competition which will be played at Wembley Stadium.
As in the case of last year’s inaugural edition, eEURO 2021 has the distinction of being the largest eFootball tournament for national teams ever organized. The teams, divided into ten groups, will face each other twice in the classic “home and away” format. Each match will consist of two 1v1 matches, with the combined score of the two matches determining the final result. The qualifying matches will be played between March and April. The ten group winners will directly qualify for the final tournament in which 16 teams will take part. The ten runners-up will enter a playoff tournament that will be played on 10 and 17 May to decree the last six finalists.
All 55 UEFA member associations will take part in the qualifiers for eEURO 2021; the winner of the competition will be announced on 10 July, which is one day before the UEFA EURO 2020 final (postponed to this year due to the COVID-19 emergency) which will be played at Wembley stadium. Italy starts as reigning champions, having won last edition 3-1 in the final against Serbia.
Each national federation will participate with a national efootball team of two to four players in eFootball PES 2021. Finally, all finalists will share a cash prize of € 100,000, of which € 40,000 will go to the winners.
We recall that last summer Italy won the first edition of Uefa eEuro, defeating Serbia 3-1 in the final in the best of five games. The Azzurri will begin defending their title in Group H which includes Portugal, Moldova, England, Iceland and Northern Ireland.
“UEFA eEURO has given efootball fans the chance to dream of representing their country on the most important stage. All the competing teams will try to follow in the footsteps of Italy who won the inaugural tournament last year,” he said. UEFA marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein said. “The first edition of UEFA eEURO was a real success, with over 15 million people watching the competition footage on different UEFA platforms. In recent years, the popularity of efootball has grown exponentially, and thanks to eEURO 2021. we will be able to connect and interact with new and old fans and fans from all over the world. “
